South Wales Potters at Llantarnam Grange

This morning we had a demonstration from Simon Hulbert of Brook Street Pottery in Hay on Wye.
Lovely Luscious Mud!!

It would be so tempting to do earthenware again, if I had both my wheels in the workshop!!

The weather was beautiful, consequently we held the AGM "al fresco", outside under the trees in front of the gallery!

Wonderful pots. I did notice in the first couple of shots that the there is no mud on the floor. How is that possible? Guess it takes practice.

BC, I shall definitely try to!

Janet, yes, practice, not throwing too fast and the first pot of the day!!!
There wasn't much on the floor after three hours either!

When I was at the Cub group the other night one of the leaders was talking about Brook Street Pottery.

Before that I was wondering how he knew so much about pottery then he told me he liked to Holiday in Hay on Wye.

He was another person who didn't understand why a potter was in Thornton Cleveleys.

I do love to watch, but I'm hopeless at throwing myself. Believe me, I've tried.

And I too am hopeless at throwing which is why I make mine a different way. Have nothing but admiration for those who can and wouldn't have minded being there to watch though!

Oh yes...I too noticed no mess on the floor! Beautiful pots..beautiful skill, and lovely photos. Years since I threw...but I could feel the clay soft and sticky under my fingers, watching Simon throw, passion shining in his face.
