It is in the high 20s here. The sunset is an ugly smudge. There is smog in Auckland and the air is only clear at the top of the Bombays. (big hills to the south of Auckland ) There is a fire in the South Island, near Nelson, fortunately under control.
Two crack firefighting teams have gone to Australia and more are to follow.
The forecast for Sydney at 8am tomorrow is 30 degrees, with the temperature a few miles outside the city even higher.
Some places in New South Wales are over 20 degrees higher.

I can never get past your heat to our cold and our heat to your cold....
Yuck! Find a pond and get yourself submerged :)
Troubling times over there, it seems. You have my sympathy with the heat! I found Spain too hot - so God knows what it must be like for you out there right now!! Still, mustn't grumble, as they say, after all it's winter here and in Wales, though mild and damp, I'm told it's not too bad for this time of year right now, having spoken to an old buddy in Newport yesterday!
A close call, but I would not trade places with you. Take care.
Take care in the heat, and all good wishes for 2013. Have you met up with my nephew yet?
