Commenting

I like the interaction between bloggers that comments give.

I can understand why some are disabling comments, but it feels a bit sad.

The other frustration is wordpress blogs that use a spam preventer..aktismet or something similar it is called.  You need a wordpress account to comment, apparently...
Perhaps that is why some of those bloggers on wordpress are also on fb....at least you can pass on your views on the postings there!!
A couple of other blogs I cannot comment on, despite also being on blogger, as the comments box takes too long to load...I haven't worked that one out yet.

Still, well over 2000 posts and I still go on. I enjoy the interaction I get, apart from the occasional spam which is deleted from the comments inbox!

I started moderating comments after have to delete over 100 spam comments that I received in one day! Since then I have only gotten a couple. I hope I can turn off the moderation soon. It's a pain to remember to check for comments. For some reason blogger has stopped e-mailing me when someone comments on a post.

2000! Wow. I was excited when I hit 1000 a few days ago. Another blog friend I have had a problem with comments and it was something you doo with? firefox, she had to delete and reinstall as that was blocking ask sorts of things.

I use to get alot of spam comments that's why I decided to moderate comments but mine aren't turned off though, I like facebook better though because it's more interactive.

The e-mail function for comment moderation comes and goes apparently on blogger. I have a very defunct Wordpress blog so I can make comments over on those blogs. I've never mastered the basics of it, and I've heard it's been updated recently. Anyway, thanks for all the comments that you all make on my 2 blogs that I've been posting on kind of regularly.

Yes, I moderate comments because of spam, too.

I've never figured out why I simply can't comments on some blogs. Despite trying to work it out with the blogger in question. It is sad.

Especially since blogger actually does pretty well at stopping spam these days, especially if I keep on top of the rare outbreaks.

I have one blogger who turned off comments in order to have the blog as a diary/recollection. I do miss commenting there.

I'm surprised I don't see more spam in the comments section. I feel a bit lucky on that front.

I moderate comments on all posts more than five days old, which keeps the spam down. But I don't moderate comments on new posts. I stay on tops of things pretty well so the spam gets deleted pretty quickly! I agree, though -- I like comments, and blogging without them seems like it would be very empty. (Although I kept a paper journal for many years and I guess that's no different.)

Congratulation on the 2000 post, you have me wondering how many have i written now - been blogging for over 10 years.
Like you I like the interaction between bloggers that comments give, and agree its nots always possible on some blogs for some reason. Blogging has changed over the years with many being PR blogs that donot offer the same engagement with its readers, so i am a bit selective these days - love the old style grassroots blogs more.
