Going to "furrin' " parts

We ventured Over The Border today, for the first time...in a year, possibly?

Over to see a good frame builder, mender and general reconditioned, with my latest acquisition...a road frame..advice received and it will go back for some new paint and other things next year. Pirate left two there for more attention , one in the paint department as it was a plain blue and needs other colours, and the other is an "is it safe or does it need constructive surgery as well as a complete paint job "?!!

All funded by selling bike bits!!

It was a lovely if slightly breezy day, far better than yesterday's gales and heavy rain!!

We saw some big County Durham skies, interesting buildings and the contrast of a town on its uppers but trying hard..Spennymoor...and coming back through Barnard Castle where there appears to be affluence and hardly any boarded up shops, unlike the former.

Just over twelve hours away from home..a long day, but good practice for when we get to travel and see families again.

Well, you probably figured out already how I was surprised to see you drove 12 hours yesterday, did some business, and then back home in another 12 hours...somehow part of these trips must have blended into the next day! Glad you're improving bikes in all kinds of ways.

Sounds like a productive day out.

not sure what a road frame is :) I have inlaws in the Durham area so have visited, it is a beautiful part of the country, I have always been shocked to find it is so much colder there than sunny Surrey! and would always have to take a lot of extra layers with me :)

Barb, I meant 12 hours away from home! Total mileage about 350.
Betty a road frame means a bike frame that takes a wheel with a multiple gear cassette on the rear wheel, as opposed to a single gear fixed for the track, and drilling to take the bolts of the brakes

It must be nice to travel even just a little bit. I haven't left West London in, what...six months?!

Thats a long travel out but it's good you could use the bike bits money to buy other things you needed.
