Opencast walk

We needed a walk...one of our friends came home in March from Spain having been diagnosed with liver cancer. This morning he died.

Back to the opencast, where much wood has been harvested and replanting is progressing. However this time it is with birch, alder, Rowan and Scots pine.

We are gradually finding our way around, learning the tracks and earmarking ones for our next walk.

Sorry to hear about your friend walking is a good antidote at a time like that - time for thought and time out in the open air to be aware that life of every kind goes on.

Would love if that old car could tell its story!

It is hard to watch a friend go. My condolences to you and your Pirate.

Rain is pouring here, which reminds me of tears shed and unshed...how our own hearts are so fragile and we love one another, then hurt when one dies. May you find respite and solace on your walks.

You honored your friend with this lovely walk, and your attention to the world around you. Love the photos. My favorite one is the old rusted car in the field. It has taken on the colors of the field as it rusts away.
