Saturday the thermostat was fitted, so we took a run down to Girvan to check it.....working fine!
Sat on the prom in the car watching Ailsa Craig play "now you see me , now you don't".....and drive back home...at least I went along the two different roads along the Girvan Valley!!
Sunday we were up and out early (ish!) and drove down to Cally Woods in the Cally Palace estate at Gatehouse of Fleet.
There we met friends that we haven't seen since 1996 when they left Garn Dolbenmaen, two years before we did!!
She used to childmind #3 and #4 in exchange for grazing for her Shetland sheep on my spare fields.
They were there with their two children, now 39 and 37 ( ?) and their dog, an English Setter who was itching to get going!
A good walk ensued..and we found a motte as well!!
Then to the Iron Brew café in Gatehouse for drinks and cakes and more talk!!
I had a short wander around the town with The Oily One...I need to get back there early one nice morning with the camera...
Back home through rain showers and time for a late lunch and relax.

You packed a fair amount into your morning. Lovely photos too.
...thank for showing me around!
Sounds a good day and you had lots of catching up to do.
Sounds like you had a busy day and got lots done.
It looks as if a good time was had by all.
All in all sounds very brilliant. Is he the Oily One because of mechanical aptitude?
Busy day - which I hope feels good. I went out on my bike - first time in ages and I hope setting the tie for the year ahead
Oh, I love it down your way. Happy New Year when it comes.
Always nice to reconnect with old friends!
Isn’t it lovely when you meet long time friends.
Beautiful scenery and wow. What a narrow hallway. I think I’d have to get rid of the Christmas padding to fit through that
A busy day and by the sounds of it - a good one too ☺️
Yes🙂
It is a shared passage to the back of the houses each side
I hope that for you too...and for me too once next week in January arrives
A good outing and great photos!
Keep your life active and full of people.
and a good time was had by all.
Rather grand entrance for the town hall - does the rest of the edifice live up to its introduction?
Good to get out in the fresh air (note to self!!) Good to have company too and meet up with old friends.
The penultimate picture is of the rear... its now converted into flats...but wasn't very big.
A busy time, and great to catch up with old friends! So she would have been The Oily One's child-minder, right?
Sounds like a fun weekend! I always love a trip to a local cafe or pub to enjoy a few drinks and treats with friends. I need it this time of year more than any. Snow on the ground isn't the best thing for a carpet cleaner like me haha But at least we do have more time on the weekends to relax with friends. Thanks for sharing!
No, Oily One was 15, the MD 14....she looked after the Geek, then 10 and the Carpenter 7 years old....by the time they left....started three years previously...they had been playing with her two already ( nearer the age of my older two) Initially the older two came home from school to get then they all walked home across our fields
A busy day! Nothing like having a dog along on a walk. They just seem to make it more fun.
So nice that you were able to reconnect with old friends!
