Bother!!

Or another B word..... there is a very good café of that name on the way to Coromandel in NZ......

Patchwork border added...now it is a 5'6½" square.....and the lining to the top is 8" too narrow.....

So yes.  Op shop for a cotton sheet. I don't think  that I have a spare left. Plus finding the right padding for the inside...as the back is polycotton sheet, the usual polyester batting might be a bit too "hairy"".

We'll see. At least the top is done.

Down to the village surgery this morning...I have a long standing sinus and throat problem...I pressed that button on the phone the second that 8.15 turned up......and got in second on the line!!

I was glad I did, having missed it yesterday and not got through until after 9.  It takes a lot of screwing up of courage to phone....and to go to the doctor. I was SO glad that our favourite doctor was on...she is willing to discuss and explain everything.

So I have a different nasal spray... antihistamine plus corticosteroid.

It works!!!!

I'm still a bit run down and stressed. I don't really like living alone I've never really done that much of it! Less than ten years in total. There has always been  family, flatmate, partner, offspring of various ages....There again , ....I have to get used to it now.

Today's big job....filling the back of the car ready to go to the cowp tomorrow.

There is still another load to be sorted...and hopefully a load to the metal recyclers...I won't get a lot , but it will be a handy something for my wallet!

I sympathise with the sinus/throat problems and seem to have a whole pharmacy of medications and sprays.

...steel prices are low here too!

Well, apparently blogger ate my first comment. Anyway, I'm sorry you're still suffering from sinus/throat. It really is miserable. I'm still full of mucus from the crud we had, and my breathing keeps me awake at night because I am so congested. Hope you're done with this soon.

Is a cowp the same as the tip?

Glad you got in to see the doc and got a new more effective nasal spray!

Glad you got to see the Dr and sorry you have the long standing sinus/throat problem . I was offered a similar spray but declined as I had one before which made my nose bleed. Now I am on the blood thinners, that seemed to be a definite contra-indication . . .

Like you, I struggle living on my own. I have only lived on my own for a matter of weeks prior to meeting Keith, so it hits very hard. The dark days of January and February don't help either.

Can I recommend the thin cotton batting for your quilt. I hated using the polyester and it has been largely replaced by cotton batting now, which is lovely to use and stitch through.

Ugh, sinus issues are no fun. Your body feels okay but your head feels like it weighs a ton. So glad the meds are working

Most will be aluminium

It didn't...it just double published a comment of mine! So I've deleted duplicates

I hope the spray works for you. No fun having a drippy nose.

Well done with ringing the doc, not my favourite thing either, hope the spray continues to sort out the sinus problems.
I know I would struggle if I were alone, like you I have always lived with someone - fortunately my other half is still bumbling around, however, when I am home all day (which is what is about to happen) I do need company and since the dog did the 'dirty on us' and died (I do still miss her dreadfully) I know I will feel that space again.
I am tempted to get another dog ... time will tell.

Getting through to a doctor on the phone is a stroke of luck. Hopefully the new nasal spray solves the problem.
Getting stuff to the tip and out of your space is great.

I don’t like phones at all, so I heartily congratulate you, GZ.

I do like living alone but can imagine it’s a wrench, adjusting to it, especially since it comes from the loss of your good Pirate. I’m sorry for that.
(I miss him showing up now and again, here in your blog. 😢)

Sympathize with that Dr thing. It's so much less stressful when it goes smoothly. Can you add a border to the quilt backing you have? I sometimes use up big pieces to make up the back with a 'leftovers' strip.

Lucky you're not here if your sinuses have been playing up, mine have been going off all year.

As the fabric is quite light I'm trying not to have any seams ..but yes perhaps one with just an overlap and sew could be ok, with one each side and the main fabric central...or as it is a square perhaps the same every side for symmetry...

I miss him too Fresca. When he was here I felt braver doing things that I wasn't certain of

As with Pirate...the right dog will turn up. He had said no more dogs before he met his two....

Its such a pity that share accommodation isn't easier when you get older, as on the whole I enjoyed sharing a house when younger and I think that there are probably many who do feel the loneliness. I have an appointment with my Dr for the 18th of February! If we want an emergency appointment, like you we have to call first thing and hope.

It is hard to go to the doctor, isn't it? I always have a lingering fear that I'm "being a bother." But I'm glad you got your sinus situation checked out.

Living alone is a big adjustment, but it needn't be permanent. Maybe you can eventually find a roommate or some other artist you know to cohabitate?

It's a real talent to get in to the queue for the doctors like that. Hopefully you get sorted soon.
