It was still dark at 8 this morning!!...and by 8.30 I could see that the wind had got to a tarpaulin that is covering some rubbish.
So...sort that, have my morning coffee and half an hour of exercise...
The Yellow weather warning wasn't far out....24 hours of fairly constant wind and rain. I checked the met office Radar map for type of precipitation...hail north south and east of us!!
Indoor jobs then....two 650ml freezer boxes of chopped apples done. I went through all the stores. There was a fair amount starting to soften and go brown..they'll go out for the birds when I can. Two full mushroom trays of two sorts of apple left now that need juicing.
And I've made a start on edging the quilt
Pixie I call this Our Shirts quilt..his shirts , including a work shirt..with oil marks! , his shirts that he liked me wearing..one of mine that he wore, a couple that he liked..and one that I can't remember which of us had it initially..but we both liked it!!
The edging and backing is a sheet.
Most of the shirts are cotton with polyester blend as is the sheet...not something I'd normally use as I stick to natural fibres.
But this is special.

The quilt is special indeed. Thank you for sharing it.

I wondered how you were doing! As usual, you managed to keep yourself busy! And yes...your quilt project is special.
What wild weather! It was very cold and windy here, blowing snow like a blizzard for half an hour.
You still managed to accomplish a good bit!
Similar weather here yesterday evening but it's calmed down now. All the visible snow will be washed away by now. The Elan Valley had LOTS but will have a good bit less by morning.
Well done with processing the apples. I've been putting gone over ones out for the Blackbirds, who are delighted.
Well done with your shirts quilt. I need to get back to mine, but not in the mood right now. Happier stitching the Pippi cat picture.
I like the idea of your quilt, making it and also using it will be a sort of mindfulness! hope it keeps you cosy in these arctic conditions the UK has been thrown into. Betty
What a great memory quilt. I don't envy your weather one bit.
When my girlfriend's husband died three years ago, she had his shirts made into quilts and pillows for her kids, nieces and nephews ( he had a lot of shirts). It's a lovely way to remember someone.
A work of love ❤️
Precious memories 🩷
the weather yesterday here was foul - rain in one ear and out the other.
So we bundled ourselves and a rather surprised cat into the van, drove up to a hill, cracked on the kettle and sat and chatted - cat still not talking to us .......
Good idea. Change of view. Cats don't like change...
❤️
It is. Each shirt brings good memories
Some of your weather is a bit surprising at the moment!!
I'm aiming for it to be a lightweight quilt. For summer, or for snuggling on the sofa
The mood has to be right for the job, you are right
We escaped the worst of the weather down here, we got snow but it didn't hang about.
