I thought I'd add a photo of Our Shirts quilt top....
I couldn't photograph it outdoors this time!!
And Pirate keeping an eye on proceedings...
Today has been shuffling things around..and painting.
Second coat done in the corner
Corner filled...and the next piece of wall to be done...
That small wardrobe is full of packing..I have a feeling that the packing and the walls are what are holding it standing!!
Second coat on that and I may be able to move things around and bring the chest of drawers that holds my fabric and yarn stash...and maybe set up the frame for my half finished quilting....
It is going to be a late/early night tonight.
Time to do more on the cushion cover block
One of our best friends and Pirates teammate.. although nine years younger...is being buried soon...."today" if you are in Adelaide!! 11am in Whyalla to be precise..10½ hours ahead of here.
Despite being an Aussie (!) with that aggressive streak..he couldn't have been a kinder more caring person.
I'm glad that I got to know his wife too on her trips with him for him to ride the Masters Track world championships.
About 4½ years ago he fell off a ladder...and was x rayed just in case. They found an aggressive brain tumour...and was told 5 years max. They don't often tell you how long nowadays. But at least he knew and coped well.
Adding after watching the funeral. Ironically it wasn't that cancer that overcame him in the end.
His local track league and the youngsters he helped along will miss him too.
This was the view from the turbo trainer this morning. A good place to think of him and Pirate.

Oh, the Our Shirts quilt top turned out spectacularly well!
The pattern on the Shirts quilt is lovely. This is going to be an amazing quilt, and it will keep you comfortable sleeping and dreaming wonderful dreams.
Your painting project is coming along nicely.
Love the "our shirts" quilt.
Hi GZ, sorry to read of the loss of your friend. I hope you will be able to find a way to feel connected in some way across the miles when the funeral is in progress. Your shirt quilt is quite spectacular and every time you use it you will be wrapped in the happy memories all those pieces evoke. Betty
Such a striking quilt! If it's hard to get light weight batting there maybe line it with flannel for a "summer weight" quilt?

The quilt looks absolutely beautiful! Pirate would be so proud of you.
That is really lovely! All your own design too, so take a bow.
A good suggestion...I do have some Viyella that has been lurking in my stash for a long time....

I agree with all above that the patchwork pattern for the quilt is outstanding! You are the third person I know to be using a shade of yellow for their walls - is the need to bring a little sunshine to life in these dark times working its way into the group psyche?! I like it very much and admire that you have the energy to do this yourself. That's quite the dazzling view you have! YAM xx
That quilt is stunning Gwynneth! Seeing just bits and pieces of it as you worked gave no hint of the final project. Well done you! My kitchen at the old house was a very bright yellow.
...the quilt is a delight!
That quilt is fantastic and so personal. I'm glad Pirate is watching over it. How sad about your Aussie friend. That's a rough way to discover a tumor. But maybe good that he had some time, hopefully not too horrid. You've been busy with so many home projects. You're a role model for all of us!
So fun to see it altogether after months of seeing it in bits and pieces. You did a fantastic job getting it all straight edged, and it is stunning—and so meaningful too, full of love and memories.
And now another friend as moved into being a memory… I’m sorry for that.
Xo ❤️
Thanks 🙂
At least friend and wife were completely open about his problems. So everyone could support them over the years up.to now...and carry on with understanding
How beautiful and industrious! The quilt is coming together well and nice view. We have yellow walls in our living room - so much warmer and more inviting than the blue that they were.
Your quilt top is looking fantastic. I bet a fresh coat of paint makes a huge difference to the “feel” of the room.
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s never ever easy
Love the yellow - we had butter yelliw in the last place (brightens up a home with small windows and big trees). The quilt is fab and i will forever be in awe that it is handsewn.
Nothing like a bright and cheerful colour to make a space look fresh.
