Lundi Le 25 Aout

A day that was good in parts.

Gardening first, weeding for me and harvesting for Friend.

A quiet day made quieter as I found later in the afternoon that something has disagreed with me....but we did manage a trip 5km down the road to the local town to meet another blogger, Yeractual...who now rarely blogs , but does post on FB. Good to meet since reading his blog from 2008 I think!!

Just drinking and resting now....

Dimanche Le 24 Aout

Start the day clean! At the Élephant Bleu...where the water is recycled.. essential at any time...

Then a walk to feed the fish...I will add more later... breakfast time and blogger isn't cooperative!

Then a short walk before our day out

Starting at the football club that Friend's son#2 plays for

A new phrase for me..." Ici le crédit est hors-jeu"...Here, credit is "offside"!!!

Over an hour and a half hour's drive away, but a good day..good playing despite over physical opponents...a picnic on a bench beneath pine trees before the game...listening to conversation in the car before and after..and being brave enough to have a conversation with a Sant Brice supporter in the last half hour of the game...Mainly in French..as her English was 1960's school English, equivalent of my French!!

Samedi Le 23 Aout

So much we'd love to do...but it is good to relax, go with the flow , do ordinary things..be laid back and not rush.

I can't see everything and everyone..this time!

Harvesting this morning, before the produce got too warm...so that it will stay fresh...

Tomatoes, apples, sweetcorn... little potatoes from the store shed. A stalk of mint to draw!

Friend's younger son and partner came over from Limoges to see the progress...he helps a little in the garden when he can. Then we all went out for lunch. The first place didn't open as expected, where we had been before, in an old tannery...so we went to a restaurant called le gantier...the glove maker....Tanning , leather and glovemaking were traditions in this area.

A relaxing afternoon, then out to see some of Sant Brice's football game at S.Laurent sur Gorre.

We went earlier to stop on the way...

And a short walk around the small town of Sant Laurent. There is a lot of restoration going on in the town....and local companies are assisting...with an incentive...for doing this they get tax concessions. A win-win situation!

Vendredi le 22 Aout

All sorts of little relaxed things today..washing, popping into Saint Junien for fuel then bread, milk, yoghurt and..fresh figs !!♥️

Today's salad was good..with the figs, yellow "Tomate Ananas"(pineapple tomato..very sweet) from a neighbour's garden, strawberries from in front of the house, Romanescu broccoli sprigs from the garden, red peppers and thinly sliced courgettes for colour...add a dash of balsamic vinegar and olive oil ...

In the afternoon we went upriver to Le Moulin de la Mie near Aixe sur Vienne..a brocante in an old mill..I must research the history of the building...

And I bought....Asterix in French!!!!

Jeudi le 21 Aout

A day in which we do a lot of small things!

Washing...racked indoors just in case it rained..it didn't!

The water butt set-up was finished, plants watered, harvesting done . Then the tractor driven back up to the Lavoire to fill the two waterbutts on the trailer.

More tomatoes went through the Moulin à Legumes..and this afternoon were slowly reduced over a low flame.

Watched stage three of the T dL,  and both of us falling asleep watching it despite the good racing!!
View from the race coverage camera in the helicopter.

Romanescu cauliflower

Tonight we went to the football again!! A home game..

Mercredi Le 20 Aout

 Early start this morning!

Through falling yellow leaves and mist to the market at Piégut-Plouviers.

The small town is absolutely full of market stalls and people. We had a lovely morning, talking to people (yes, I managed a bit!) made a contact with a potter ..then found later that we have friends in common!

Bought some roast nuts coated in praline...had café allongé in a sports bar and people watched as the sun burnt off the very autumnal mist

Discovered brocante.....

And bought a handmade bag to carry my drawing book..it has a popper closure, I'll add a buckle when I return to Scotland.

Then home for lunch and a rest and watching the Tour de Limousin, stage two, on the TV!!  Watching the helicopter shots you could see that despite the good tree cover there are many trees that appear to be dying.

With thunder in the direction of Limoges (and we learnt later flooding and trees down) we went to the allotment and I helped a little with the job of setting up a new water butt before any rain.

Looking ahead (the white dot on the skyline is a water tower) you can see the rain coming down!!

And to the left..

And to the right...

Contrasting skies.
The nicely dried onion crop came back to the house, not wanting them to get wet
An apple tree branch had just broken, apparently due to the stress of the drought.

There has been a little shower...but I'm not leaving the velux window open...just in case!!
