from here
The Galloway Hills
this is why the monument was erected...
and it was initially on the hill over the valley...but as it kept on being struck by lightning it was moved to the present site!!
risk assessment done!!
then back to work, helping cut grass.

Up to the top, then back down to the bottom.
You go up the hill; I'll stay at home and mow.
How long is it? Such a pretty, photogenic area you live in. Your walking, biking photos make me look at my own place with fresh eyes.
Best comment we had was when a friend of Proge's visited for the first time. "This is....is Shangra La!"
And the lawn looks terrific!
I feel quite weary at the thought of it, but enjoyed the photos and the virtual walk!
looks beautiful
Such lovely exercise, especially from the laziness of my bed-linen :-)
One day the knees will recover and I'll be off walking in the hills too, I hope
the fell run is about 2.25 miles.
It was fantastic to see the Galloway Hills clearly from the monument
That's a surprise, I didn't expect to see a Crimean War monument somehere in the middle of Scotland.
