I think that is the right word...
I stand corrected, Kintsugi!
I have a Buckley pancheon that I found 24 years ago...complete...went back to pick it up the next day and someone had thrown a brick in it....
Now pirate is mending it and I am tempted to highlight the mends in gold! It is a beautiful honoured hardworking object.....

I think the gold is good idea - Grason Peery did something like that with one of his pots
kintsugi.
I had to google 'pancheon'and got wonderfully sidetracked. You have to wonder why anyone would want to smash something like that. What is the thrill of it?
You should post an 'after the repair' photo.
What a fabulous bowl to have, condition be damned, and repaired all the better.
It will be wonderful once mended. One has to wonder at the mentality of some people.
I had never heard of pancheons but they are indeed beautiful, if the ones I saw on the internet are anything to go by. How depressing when people destroy just for the sake of it. I have heard of an artist who used kintsugi as a form of art, in which you break things representing unresolved issues in your life, and then remake them using gold and turn them into things of beauty or for discussion. I hadn't realised it was a whole Japanese pottery tradition though. So I have learned a lot through reading your blog post today!
