Day's end

I had a packing session this morning, finishing the family parcels of cards, with homemade biscuits and jam....and I made the cards too!

Then out to the post office and met friends in a café for lunch..hand delivered card and biscuits to them, and they will take on card and biscuits to a mutual friend!

All jobs done. So we thought to find another section of the River Ayr Way. We tried Failford, but not enough parking there and the path looked very muddy and steep. So along past Auchincruve to at Oswald's Bridge. A short foray downriver..nothing interesting and nothing by the river either.

Back to the bridge, then upriver  past the back of Oswald house along a decent if muddy path along the river bank. The river is quite wide with rapids of varying sizes.

We walked to what looked like an estate wall, that came across the path to the river with steps up and down through a gap in the wall. It was a beautiful sight, and as well as a few pairs of mallards we saw a heron in the distance.

Turning back, aiming to get to the car and home before dark, we were straight away walking through fog!

We drove very carefully through the lanes to the next village, the one nearest to Drongan

through very thick fog. We decided to turn off to get to the back of our village and were instantly out of the fog. With the sunset on one side and the full moon rising on the other!
