Garden days...and rain!!

This is what I found this afternoon in the greenhouse, nicely camouflaged...a moth I think.

We have had a couple of days slowly doing things that don't get done enough because we have been so busy or been away.

Cleaning the house gently, sorting out unneeded clothes. More gardening now that we have had rain...just heavy showers on Saturday afternoon and night and gentle steady rain this morning.  The garden has breathed a sigh of relief! Pirate's tatties in a pot have shown above the earth...and even in the polytunnel where I thought it was all bone dry, two inches down the soil was still just damp.

Tomatoes , big and little squash and zucchini have been planted out.  I need to sow some more salad stuff, beetroot and carrots, and the leeks are almost ready to go out...their patch of garden is ready!

The patch that Pirate put on the workshop roof on Saturday morning looks to have cured two leaks...relief!  And a neighbour will take some wood offcuts for his stove so that I can start clearing some of the stored wood from the workshop to the wood store!!

Just lots of little jobs....

I will construct more climbing frames ..the ones there are for cucumbers in the greenhouse and tomatoes in the polytunnel...there will be something for the butternut squashes and zucchini but no rush yet. Last year the greenhouse tomatoes had string...which broke....so that needs a rethink!!

Pirate is resenting getting sick and the effects it is having on him, physically and mentally...it isn't easy for him, especially as whatever happens, treatment or not, it's a slippery slope.   He wants to go out and do things...but that can no longer be done with spontaneity.   It's not all bad...he can be positive as well.

And yes I may have worked out who the American gentleman is...but unless and until I am 100% certain there is no point saying.  If I am right he has been living near where the car broke down for forty years.

The garden is coming along fine. Just fine! And my heart aches for Pirate. My mind goes back to my mom.

Beautiful usefulness you’ve been up to.
I sympathize with Pirate—I resent even just having a cold/cough this week. Ha.
One day it will be something more serious like he’s facing. Best wishes to him—and to you.

Yes, that's what gardening is. a lot of little jobs that seem to go on and on. However, there's a lot of pleasure in gardening.

You both have a lot on your plate, and you're both doing a good job of breaking it down into more manageable portions. You're getting an awful lot accomplished as well.

You are very organised with your gardening.

I have had periods when dear ones have suffered ill health - it is hard and there are always decisions to be made about simple things like 'what to say' andwhat to do'. No-one can say 'I know what you are going through' because we are all different and all approach 'real' ill health (ie not the things we all get like colds, sore throats etc) in our own way. Enjoy your garden and enjoy being together and sharing the ups and downs of life. Best wishes

Always good to see what's going on other people's gardens.

Aren't you in Scotland? I've heard the Scotch there is fairly good. Perhaps Pirate might . . .
