Wandering and wondering

Things just go along slowly here..far slower than Pirate had expected.

I don't think that he could take that in before. It doesn't help that the weather has curtailed our activity outside and recovery needs a little more gentle walking than he is getting, so other niggles are growing.

It is reassuring that the district nurse and doctor and Macmillan nurse are all happy with his progress so far.

Meanwhile I am keeping busy.  Necessarily because a house has things doing to keep it going...and we need to eat and there is plenty of washing...

But there are also things to do for myself.

This afternoon I started sorting the greenhouse properly. Rubbish cleared out, dead plants including some that I disappeared from the house...they had been struggling despite tlc...so they got parked out in the greenhouse to "sink or swim"...they all sank.  Next step is to sort out all the plastic trays and pots to see how many I really will need!!

This morning it was wet and cold outside so I "wandered" around quite a few blogs to see old friends and possibly find some new.

I was surprised at how many times I found names I already knew commenting on a blog new to me!!  Another surprise was how many blog commenters have no blog....and no description of who they are and where from...  Not everyone has the time or inclination to write, but it would be nice to know a little more, especially when their comments are so interesting!!

Plus as ever there are those that have stopped blogging for whatever reason.

Some still comment on blogs, which is reassuring. Others have just gone.

I was just thinking commenters who have no Blog – – of course they are welcome, but I don’t get to know them, which is a loss.

Glad to hear the medical staff are happy with pirates progress even if it’s slower than wanted or expected

It certainly can be interesting to review a list of blogs you have been following and don't realize at once they have left. I have always left my list alone, and realize how many old friends have passed. I wish people left descriptions of themselves. I know they opened a site to be able to comment, but we would like to know a bit more about them upfront.

It is gratifying to read that the nurse(s) are pleased with Pirate's progress. Just wait for the rain to stop and then he will be raring to go.

Summer will be there soon :)

I've gathered in a favorite group of blogs, but there are some that are now posting lest frequently than in the past.
I love reading them, but sometimes have to scan through quickly and not take time to comment. My life outside my apt. has suddenly become much busier. I can understand care=giving is a job that you need to have credit for...as much as you probably are adapting.

I am also surprised at the number of people who make excellent comments but have no blog. One of these people told me that she found the blogs interesting and that was good enough for her.

We've had a couple of dry days so I have been able to do a little outside. Yes I find it strange that some commenters don't have a blog.. must like reading about people. Sounds like Pirate is slowly improving.

Hello, I just came to have a read from Tom's blog ! I have seen your name on comments on some of the blogs I read and it was interesting to see what you said about the same people cropping up on various blogs. I have always thought of it as a sort of family ! I have been reading blogs since I was introduced to my then( now ex) daughter-in-law's blog over 10 years ago and it sort of spiralled from there.
There are several who have just disappeared and one lady wrote a post after a long break, and then no more, no explanation! Why bother with one and then more long silence? She was interesting to read too!!
Oh well, I am off out to walk the dog now.....sunny day here in Hertfordshire! Have a nice weekend.

Hello Frances...nice to meet you. I like that you have a description, even if you don't blog yourself. It is good to know a little about the commenter rather than just as name!
Yes, it is like a blogging family..and not every member of any family is talkative!!

It's good that the professionals are pleased with Pirate's progress. You can give yourself a pat on the back.
Taking time for yourself is important when you're the main carer.
I agree with you about blogging and comments. I like to know more about people, but then I'm just nosey!

Progress can be slow and frustrating for both those in recovery and their carers. So glad that you are giving yourself some you-time. Did I see on FB that studio is in the works. BTW, initially found you as a potter!
My blogging really slowed down four years ago due to health problems NOT related to Covid, which thus far I have managed to avoid. I also slowed down creatively. Recently I have felt the juices starting to flow.

I also make the mistake of being wildly optimistic about my ability to bounce back from serious stuff. In the end, the best judge of how things are going. My thoughts are with you both. Reality is a tough thing to grapple with.

I have looked back in my blog from time to time and it seems I'm always surprised by the names of people commenting who have disappeared since then. Judy was also surprised at her doctor's pleased reaction to her progress when he saw her some time after her surgery. She had thought things were not going as quickly as she had expected. I guess it's human nature to be impatient.

Hi, my name is Gigi. I read lots of blogs and find them interesting. I do not have a blog, wouldn’t know how to make one. I live in Toronto and am almost 83 years old. I have been a widow twice. My last husband , the love of my life died four years ago. I was married to him for 35 years and we retired early, bought a catamaran, built in England, sailed it to Grenada, and spent about 16 winters living on it in Grenada and thereabouts, and summers mucking about on my husbands 1936 old 50 foot wooden boat that had been built in England. I am now just a lonely old lady with a small dog to keep her busy. My husband was born in Scotland and came to Canada when he was in his late 20s. He would have loved your blog as he was a racer like Pirate. Gigi

Hi Gigi, one of our friends in Glasgow is probably a contemporary of your husband.
You had a good life together

I'm trying not to turn into one of these.... sometimes life changes, not necessarily in a bad way, luckily. I sorted through my spam folder on Blogger, which I had hardly noticed even existed, and found many comments from my present followers, (including one of yours) and also people who don't blog any more. Like y ou, I don't like mysteries, so I followed all of those back and there seemed no particular reason why they had stopped althugh one explained that she was just more involved in things outside the home and didn't have time, and another said was moving and starting a whole new life.
