Alone again

 And there he was gone....

The Oily One left this morning, heading to Blackpool for a day or so with a friend, then making his way around his siblings, delivering various presents, jam and chutney!

The house isn't empty....I'm here....loads of stuff fills the house...but despite being quite quiet around the place you notice when he isn't here!

I've been to the local mart where my insurance office is to let them know how long I'll be away...so I can reduce the car insurance...but I haven't been anywhere else. It wasn't exactly inviting out there!

Gusting up to 50 mph today...it has subsided a little but still over 30mph tonight.

It will be back again tomorrow, with added rain....

Tonight's job is trying on clothes to see what still fits.....

I think we're all having that fit issue these days!

A house can feel really quiet when visitors leave. It feels like winter here today although it is supposed to get to 22 degrees. Heavy showers. Good weather for chilling out.

I'm having a fitting issue of a different sort - lost almost a stone in my hospital stay - silver lining I guess

We had some very high winds last night too. Today has been really nice though. More rain coming tomorrow, I think.

...you sure live in a windy spot!

I don’t like strong wind at all. Gives me headaches.
As for trying on clothes. Well let’s just say new year new goals lol
Put on some music or turn the radio on. It helps fill the house and you don’t feel so alone

I remember being very aware of that as a young child. On Sundays, our grandparents would drive up to spend the day with my two aunts. I remember the silence after they left.

You are getting lots of rain and clouds. A bit of sunshine would be nice. Soon you'll be backing to travel. A trip to look forward to is always great.

I wish I could drop by, and we could carve linoleum prints side-by-side! That would be so fun!

That wind is really blowing!

Will you get snow where you are? I had been going to Tam's tomorrow, but weather forecast not good so staying put and sewing. I know what you mean about the house suddenly feeling empty when family have gone. Plenty to keep me busy here though.

That sort of rattling about the house feel is worse in dreich weather I find. Being confined alone is worse than simply being alone.

It would so!!

There is snow further north

Yes...when there is no sense in going out in it

The noise and energy is very noticeable when kids come back to visit.

We're supposed to be plunged into a deep freeze starting tomorrow, I believe, so you'll probably be the same. Not looking forward to that. I know how weird it is when visitors leave and everything is quiet, but it will soon feel normal again.

It has been VERY windy and heavy rains in my part of Scotland too. But fairly mild. It is meant to snow tomorrow.. we shall see!

Happy Hogmanay and all the best for 2025. :-D

It's been lovely here for a few days but chillier weather is on the way. Happy Hogmanay, Gwyneth, and my hopes for a calm and prosperous New Year.

happy new year from over here - we do have some brooding in the sky - according to BOM it will get to a balmy 27 degrees here today with a 25% chance of rain.

Happy Hogmanay. May I suggest you fill that quiet with soothing music.
