Monday's washing done, I phoned a friend to see if she was over the cold that she had last week...and she was!!
Off in the car this time..a bus does go through their village, but not very often! Getting there would mean a bus to Ayr...a bus to Girvan...then a bus that goes out through their small hamlet!
Different roads to those on the weekend..not one A road, all B or C !
But worth it for the views...
It wasn't quite as dark as that...but if I lighten the image, I lose the shaft of sunlight
31 miles and just over an hour's drive...but worth it to catch up with friends, first Pirate's then ours.
Lunch together, and talking through the afternoon until just after 3...and time to get home just as night fell.
On the return journey the sun was setting behind me, a bright yellow ..it would just have burnt out to white in any photo, but it was beautiful and lit up the dried beech leaves and dead bracken with a lovely glowing light.

...folks here are having a difficult time getting better.
It hasn't been a good year.
Our friend doesn't have good health to start with.. hasn't for a long time..but she does push herself to carry on..that cold was her body's message to ease up a bit! It was a relief that she is on the mend.
Always nice to catch up with old friends!
Friends really do bring the color to life.
Leaving at 3 to beat nightfall… Same here—I left work on my bike at 3:30–When I got home at about 10 before it was already getting dark!
31 miles with great views makes a pleasant road trip.
Nice to see your friend and know she's feeling a bit better.
Your photo showing sunrays shooting from the cloud opening is a great shot.
An hour to go 31 miles...you could be living in West Virginia! Sounds like our roads.
Good to hear your friend is getting better. Some bad colds are going around. And there is nothing like a good visit to really brighten up a day.
It’s lovely visiting friends and catching up.
There has been a lot of a stiff cold going around at work too, people taking a bit of time to shake it off. Prob the damp weather has not helped. It is good to be able to catch up with folk x
That light is called Dedos de Dios in Spanish, the 'fingers of God'. The phrase pops into my mind every time I see that light. I love that last golden light of the day too. I knew exactly what you were describing.
Hurrah for friends and fixed cars!
If I ever move again it will have to be close to amenities like a shop and a pub and a chemist and have regular public transport nearby. Even a pavement makes life that much easier to live in.
I think a cold at my age would be the death of me! I haven't had one in many, many years.
Sounds like a perfect winter day - spectacular natural world and the company of a much enjoyed friend.
