A hotter day today, I noticed 22⁰ this afternoon, but I think it was hotter than that around midday.
Luckily I'm at the end of the bus route as on Sundays and Jours Férié...public holidays..it goes a different way in a couple of places! Plus the diversions for roadworks!!
I walked from the bus down to the river by the steep little street leading to the medieval bridge of St Étienne. Then headed downriver, sharing the path with runners and a few cyclists in places. This was explained when I passed a fitness/health centre with a crossfit gym (loud music!!).
I went as far as a modern bridge , then retraced to the early medieval bridge built on Roman foundations..the first river crossing.
I found a wee bar open!! A wee coffee....and a toilet stop...both much needed as most places were closed today.

Half a dozen men sitting outside....and the same inside..all speaking in Occitan...and no, they didn't change from French as I arrived.
All ages too...great to see.
I followed the road up to the road around the old city by the Mairie..and had a rest on a porcelain bench!!..they had chessboards too..then back to the station. I should have stayed by the Mairie to catch the bus as it was literally jam packed for the first ten minutes!!
Before getting back to base I worked out where the local huge Carrefour is.....
which meant that today's walking was about 12km..probably a conservative estimate.
Will all this help to shift my "spare tyre" ?!!!!
photos on the next post....
