belongings, alias "stuff"

I've just read a post by Milkmoon about moving home..

Since 1998 we've moved five times to progressively smaller homes....each time we've had to reduce what we have.
Now I'm leaving home and going to share a one bedroom, one living room cottage......

HOW do I reduce what I have still more....HOW do I pare down my belongings, my book collection, my pot collection?

I already have garden plants to move, and a workshop  to pare down to bare essentials- not easy after so many years.

Living here in New Zealand for a while has shown us that we need far less than we think, but reducing all the things that have memories attached will hurt.

Take an open heart and a great many good intentions, leave behind your clutter and any emotional baggage you may still be carrying.
Simples!

I know I would hate to part with all the "stuff" that has so many memories associated with it.

Don't give it all away. I was cleaning out an old chest of drawers yesterday and found some old photos that I thought I had lost. Oh joy!
Save what is important. I have moved and downsized too. We do carry too much with us and we can live with so much less that we think, but there is something very important about memories. They connect us. Save a small space for the things that matter.

I sometimes wonder if the true reason why we recently bought a huge barn, is to spread all the clutter around more thinly. 'Stuff' sometimes becomes overwhelming.

I think I would be tempted to put them into store. And then, a year or two later, when I went to see them, I'd realise which ones I really couldn't live without permanently.
