small homes and travelling

I've just read Rima Staines' latest blogpost at The Hermitage.

It is only when you travel that you realise how little it is that you really need.

Why is it then  so difficult to reduce the "stuff" that one gathers?

it's the memories ATTACHED to the articles that often get in my way of passing them along. I am still working on releasing the items and just holding onto the memory.
I do love her blog!

OMG!! Soub needs to read this post. He has just spent a difficult weekend cleaning out both his mother's house and his own flat ... He's already regretful that his copy of "Huckleberry Finn", the one he's had since he was 8, went off in a box to the charity shop.

I don't know why we accumulate stuff and laden it with meaning and emotions, but we do.

Arrgghh! I have my own pile in the garage that needs sorting soon ...

I am so lost!
How long are you in NZ for?
And why?
What have I missed?
I was reading posts and then it struck me that you are there and not here

I am a packrat at heart; decluttering is an ongoing process for me. Thanks for the link to The Heritage.

Thanks for link to Hermitage...I loved reading about Rima Staines. Yep, from being on the road once myself, I now live swaddled in things.
I would comment more often, but I can't see the darn letters/numbers in your "word verification" blocks that are necessary just to say hi to you. Could you maybe turn off that function sometime?
