following charlie

Today's expedition was early, as we ventured South from Stornoway on the Tairbert road, but turned off to the sea loch where Charles Edward Stuart made his landing. Interestingly there are no foxes...aka "Charlie"...on the islands...
We had a marvellous walk, the Pirate and E saw the rump of a deer disappearing over the mountain, E and myself saw a golden eagle, and we all saw a Herdwick sheep.....just the one.....??!!
After sandwiches and tea we went to the places Charles walked to after landing in the 1700s..but we cheated and went by car!!

The weather, after last night's seeing in of the New Year with much wind and rain was just breezy, and until later in the day, reasonably warm.    We saw the mainland looking dark and snow topped and had messages from friends and family in Wales and England and even Ayrshire, of flooding and otherwise miserable weather.

After returning home and recovering we had a visit from Mrs. Up Yours, then I went visiting with her and A while E and the Pirate made a super supper!

Happy New Year gz! It looks like you have settled in well up there, you certainly do grab life by the horns, an inspiration to us ladies.
I hope 2014 brings you and your loved ones all that you wish for.
