the smell of fresh bread is so lovely - we have a machine, which we don't use over frequently but it takes all the hard work out - great for making batches of pizza base too!
Oh the picture really made me want to have a slice, there is no comparison between an individually baked loaf and shop bread, however "artisan" the latter might be. I have bought a bread maker which does a lot of the work, although I know that for a lot of people the process of actually making the bread is a major part of the pleasure. am at present using 1 tablespoon white flour, one tablespoon malted wheat flour and the rest wholemeal brown, plus caraway seeds, really love it.

It's a lovely loaf and not to small for toast!
