Food!!

A productive morning. Strike while the oven is hot!!
At last I managed to get hold of dessicated coconut...cue..a bit late....Anzac Biscuits.. in honour of grandpa who survived the first world war thanks to the Australian army..and of the forebears of our many friends in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia.
Baking was not all cakes, there is a long savoury almond chick pea and vege loaf, and baked potatoes too.
Lunch was a fresh 'vat' of soup...a helping each and five in the freezer. Half the cakes go in the freezer , and all this saves time and energy when we are busy doing other things. Knowing that we don't need to stop early, change gear to cooking and make a meal.. especially when you are tired.

Pirate has been having a tidy while the weather outside warmed a little..finding papers that need a real sort out when we get a bit more rain. Then the last three screws in the lean-to roof.
We are both glad that that is done.

Baking is good when we're stuck inside. Last week I made pull apart bread and then lemon squares yesterday.

It is always good to get cooking done for the freezer. Well done.

Oh yes the baking! I seem to be doing more of that in recent times too! Your almond veg loaf sounds delicious.

Yummy, yum, yum! Anzac biscuits go down well here too! Very sensible to do a big batch of baking when you have the oven on. It is funny, but we are definitely eating better at the moment with the "lockdown". Laura's been baking bread most days, and there's fresh pumpkin and various salad greens from the garden... and no take aways! "Inconvenient food is definitely the best!!" Good to hear that you are having warmish weather. Hope the garden goes well!

Food looks appetising. And....you mention good weather! Nought but rain every day here in SW France this year. Gonna be a few days in mid-20s from Monday thru to Wed, it seems. Gonna be needed cos grass growing wildly and can't be cut in the bleeding rain!

Just polishing off a piece or two of my birthday carrot cake Judy made for me. I think it's better the longer it waits.
