A sale!

Just a small one, but it is encouraging..and a good excuse to combine exercise, shopping and posting!
It is a little hilly between here and our favourite post office, but beautiful views . A fifteen mile round trip was enough for today and it was lovely weather, sunny and warm with plenty of bird and insect life to see.
Tonight's side salad from the garden, with a small onion added.
Not much else has been done today apart from photographing more bike bits to sell. The machine behaved and did two washes and everything dried on the line!

Also the good news that a parcel of pots arrived in Minneapolis. A relief as the post office there went up in smoke! Now to wait to hear of two more deliveries, with goods taking up to two months.
Then the bad but understandable news...Royal Mail is adding a new rate, World Wide 3... initially just the USA...I think the parcel rate might be doubling as UPS (?) Who do the last part of delivering have doubled their rates. On top of that air traffic is costing more..

Ugh I know postage is a killer here in Oz. Our postage rates are ridiculous both interstate and especially overseas.
Your radishes look delicious ;o)

Not good about mail rates going up. I am still awaiting a book dispatched from U.K. before we went into Lockdown.

A friend of mine makes jewellery and her biggest market is the US, unfortunately although her items are lightweight and affordable, the new postage rates apparently have killed that direction of trade and she is now struggling to sell enough in the UK or Europe to make up that difference :(

I hadn't heard that about the new postal rate. Dave's parents sent him a birthday package about six weeks ago and we STILL haven't seen hide nor hair of that. Who knows how they mailed it, though -- slow boat via Indonesia, maybe.

Do you want some lupine seeds, as you mentioned earlier in the spring? If so leave me your e-mail address and I'll get in touch to get your mailing address. (I threw out the envelope you mailed my card in -- d'oh!)

Susan so far the rate increase is for parcels for the USA starting on 1 July. The annoying thing is that I can't get the leaflet until 1 July..although I could download a mass of info including that!
Steve thanks for the offer..was that a specific colour? I must go back and look at your blog. Otherwise we have the usual links and dark purples here

It was so fun to receive your beautiful little pots in the mail---I saved the Scotch whisky tube you packed them in too!

Postage rates are a real shame. I used to mail packages from here (Minnesota) to Europe on affordable "surface mail" on the slow boat---didn't mind waiting a couple months for many items.

They got rid of that option years ago, sadly. Air postage is not only more expensive, it burns more carbon.

At least we have e-communications to stay in touch--but I do miss mail.

GZ: Our lupines are the bright red Beefeater variety, and the pink Rachel de Thame. We have another red one that's more wine-colored (Gallery Red, maybe?), and a purple one called Persian Slipper. I could send any of those if you're interested, though I have no idea if all the seeds are viable and/or true to the hybrid type.

That sounds interesting Steve, I would like to try them.
