Garden visit, Arbigland

 We were invited by friends to go around the garden at Arbigland House near Dumfries.

The house was sold not too long ago and the new owner discovered a beautiful garden!

This is now in renovation, and was opened yesterday under the National Gardens Scheme, whereby the proceeds go to charity.

Arbigland House is where John Paul Jones' (of USA navy fame) father worked as a gardener.

We nearly turned back at Dumfries because of the rain...but it held off until after our visit...just!!

And looking over to England as we left....

Followed by heavy rain on the way home and an incredible sunset to finish off the day!

lBeautiful pictures. Lovely sunset - often the way after rain. Glad you enjoyed it.

I have never been to Dumfries and Galloway - shameful really; I think I have been to almost every other mainland country in Great Britain. It is supposed to be one of the most sparsely populated parts of the UK outside the highlands and islands; I really must go.

Oh, I see what you mean.

I really must add this to "the list" and make an effort - but it is such a long list {rolling eyes!!}
