A long day

We made it home...a long day, partly because we didn't push things, we took a scenic, but more direct route on one section..and enjoyed it!

And going from Lancashire and over Shap on the motorway right over to Penrith, we had torrential rain, thunder and lightning... maximum sensible speed 40mph(64kph)...and plenty of cars were passing us, some going well over the speed limit ...and quite a few with no lights on. Not good atall.

I had lights and foglights on, fire and aft. I want to be seen as well as to see!

It takes a while to unwind..but now it's time for a quick shower and bed.

Night all!! Xx

Long days seem to have a number of issues to make things stressful.

It is nice to get away but lovely to get back to your own bed.

That sounds like a challenging drive. I do hate it when others don't switch on their headlights in bad weather. So very dangerous.

Now that sky is scenic!

Scenic AND more direct is a good combination! Too bad about the weather, though.

I'm the same in bad weather even at night too, I figure if others want to go faster then they can pass me. Gotta be safe.

We sometimes perfer to take the slower scenic route to somewhere, but sometimes when time is an issue we stick to the freeway, which is typically boring. Sorry you had such rain to drive through. That can be tedious, and dangerous. And like you said, some people aren't too bright when driving too fast for the conditions.

When we lived in Seattle, where it rains a lot, people would drive too fast, tail gate and generally exhibit stupid behavior in the rain. It's annoying. Nice you had some scenic beauty along the way.

A I always have trouble unwinding after a challenging drive. I am glad you are safely home, but it sounds as if your time with your brother was well spent.
