Good and bad

Yesterday I posted the good sale, on our way to Castle Douglas to have lunch with a friend.

Pirate was feeling a little better, the sun was shining and we enjoy going there for whatever reason.

After lunch and a top-up shop, I suggested that we didn't just return straight home.

Pirate navigated the way on quieter roads and small lanes to Glen Trool on the Newton Stewart to Straiton road, and we aimed for a stop at the Bell's memorial to check on the bench.

It wasn't there.....

Despite heavy duty steel anchors and concrete, it had gone.

Pirate is heartbroken.

A near(2 miles or so) neighbour to there commented on a public post I made on fb...he has CCTV at his property which covers the passing traffic...and went there to check.

It was obviously a professional job probably to order. The memorial itself was graffitied and drug paraphernalia scattered around...plus the place used as a toilet..

We won't return there ever again.

It must have happened about Wednesday...as the grass was mown by the Forestry commission a week ago, and cycle tourists visited there at the beginning of the week.

I am spreading the news on every grapevine I can find, and we speak to the police on Monday.

😱 Shocking. I am sitting in The Grey, parked beside the River Nith at Sanquhar and was moved to collect some litter that was left not fifty feet from the empty and capacious rubbish bin provided by the council... I thought that was bad. The shame on such folks. I feel for the Pirate and his coworkers. YAM xx

How heart breaking and what an outrage. A professional theft! I hope someone returns the bench or it is found. You remind me today to walk over to the park to check the memorial bench we had installed in memory of my husband. Be well, dear blog friend.

What a wonderful memorial...and then to have it ripped right out from under you all....from the present as well as the future. Those kids really need a life...as we say. I feel so sorry for you all.

So sad - the folk who do this sort of thing have no heart.

Absolutely heartbreaking, as well as infuriating.

This is a shame and an injustice. I hope the thieves are found and prosecuted.

The bench was beautiful. What is wrong with people! So much destruction, vandalism, theft anymore. Makes you want to carry a baseball bat and start hitting some heads. How truly disgusting and sad. Any cameras around that there might be footage of the jerks?
