It doesn't rain, but....

At least it is beautiful outside.

Pirate has managed to get himself seriously dehydrated...so another infection to clear, and I have to stay on his case to get him drinking.

Being dehydrated he is also a tad confused.

Neither of us need this. Why do things like this always happen on a weekend...and a long weekend to boot!

Still, it was a bonus when the emergency doctor came out...he is a cyclist and walker, and his wife is a triathlete..and we know him!

I cut a leek from the garden in half...soup time... isn't it beautiful.

Bye, everything will be fine! I would never have guessed that this one in the photo is a leek. It looks like paper or something! Have a great month tomorrow is a start!

...I can be hydrated and confused!

That leek is a work of art!
Hope Pirate gets sorted out quickly.

Between a doctor who was decent enough to turn out, and your great care, Pirate should soon be on the mend. I hope so, anyway. Leek and potato soup is a great favourite here.

Happy Easter. Dehydration is always just a few hours away in my life too. And doing more physically (with physical therapy exercises) means I need more water all day long. At night it is a bother to get up more than once though. So glad your pirate got home visit. That doesn't happen here at all. (Well, nurses maybe)

Howdy from Nairn! Just popping by to wish you all best for Spring Season - that leek clearly was reluctant to rise from the ground, but made itself beautiful in its cringe... sending continued healing wishes to Pirate; dehydration is an issue for we aging ones anyway, never mind when recovering from surgery. Glad the doc was a 'winner'! YAM xx

Elaine it wasn't our usual doctor, but the one from the 111 service..not the emergency 999, but the out of hours helpline..you have to "tick enough boxes" as it were, going through the out of hours call centre, a nurse, the doctor call out centre....

Oh no! There’s a lot of us struggling with poorly husbands at the moment. Mine has Parkinson’s and had a bad fall when I was out swimming on Wednesday and I had to take him to A&E for observation, tests, stitches and a CT scan. Just exhausting and I’m sure I’m starting to sound like a broken record. Cannot fault the team at A&E though - everyone was brilliant and we were there for hours as we arrived at 4.30 and didn’t get home until 11pm. Keep cheerful Gz and feel better soon Pirate. I’m using leeks from the garden too tonight in a leek and pasta dish and last night we had a big pan of garden spinach from the garden with our roast chicken dinner. I find keeping busy helps and the sunshine this weekend has been a tonic. Our daughter is up in Aberdeen, but I think you’re more south and west? Sarah in Sussex

I would have never known that was a leek just by seeing that picture. That really is beautiful.

Have a nice day!

We have "ShropDoc" here and they are good. Medical problems always seem to happen on a weekend - made worse as it's Easter. I hope that Pirate is on the mend again soon - so easy not to drink enough, esp. once you get dehydrated and not quite with it.

We may have to "spring" Keith from Hospital as they won't let him out until a care package is in place. We had one agreed before he went in so I need to be at the Council's throat first thing on Tuesday. He was too weak to speak today (but off oxygen now) and spelt out that he was going downhill and desperate to get home. He'll be here, even if we have to load him onto his wheelchair, somehow topple him into the car and manually lift him up the stairs to bed.

The leek looks like ribbon candy (hard sugar)

They told be to make sure I keep up my fluid intake - 6 pints a day I think they said. They didn't specify what. I have water as well.

Sarah we are not too far from Ayr

I was told 8 glasses of water a day is important to stay hydrated. Infection sounds not so good. Hopefully that is resolved with some antibiotics. An infection can cause confusion if it enter the blood stream.

What a bonus having a GP call but I suppose it is easier on the resources than an ambulance taking him to hospital. I do hope Pirate is on the mend soon. It seems to be one step forwards and one back at the moment. Love the leek, one of my favourite vegatables. Mind you I do love my veggies.

The leek looks weird to me but, then, I have yet to try them.

Bank holidays always catch out the unwary. Hope all is back on track now.

My Gran was a 'great one' for not drinking enough then becoming dehydrated then confused. Hope Pirate is feeling less 'discombobulated' and more comfortable xx

Pirate is fortunate to have you there to help him manage his health! I hope he's feeling better by now. That is a weird-looking leek. I wonder why it grew that way?

Love Leeks. My grandmother, mum's mother who was Scottish/Irish use to serve it covered in white sauce with corned beef. I hope Pirate is on the mend after his infection.

I am late to post, but I hope that Pirate is back to himself. I think that when someone is recuperating from such an ordeal as he has endured, it takes just the slightest thing to throw things wildly off course. Hydration is vital.

That leek is a wonder.
