This morning I couldn't open my window to air the bedroom..we are getting a little smoke from the nearest wildfire...and it was freezing....ice on my windscreen!
It was my first day at the gallery....I arrived early..at least I know how long to allow for the journey..35 minutes...and sat on a bench in the sun to wait...and my coworker was late!!
It was really cold in the shadows..and not very warm in the gallery as we keep the door open. If the door is shut, people assume that it is closed.
So, a long day, and not too busy. This meant that I could learn to use the Sumup machine without pressure.
I sold two of my own bowls as well!
I arrived home at 5.45, as I had a hot chocolate and cake in the café before it closed...staff discount!! ...and a chance to warm up before driving.
I'll know to wear even warmer clothes next time!!
Once home I "crashed" on the sofa ..and had a quick supper....A long day, and change of routine!!

Good that you sold two of your own bowls. Not sure how close you are to the wildfires. Seems early in the season for wildfires.
That sounds like a lovely day, despite the temperatures!
There was a big wildfire near the mountains of Mourne the other day.
Despite the wet summer, the water table is low. Possibly the difference between gentle steady rain to soak in and heavy rain that just runs off.
((o))
Two sales, hot chocolate and cake -- good times!
Well, it sounds as if you are off to a good start then!!!
Going to work again is odd, isn't it? Even though you work all the time at home and in your studio and garden, being in a "store" environment just feels different, and I think is more tiring. I filled in at the antique mall once a week for six months or so in 2023, and found it wore me out, even though it usually wasn't that busy.
What’s with all of the recent spaight of fires
I didn't realise that you would be in the gallery - lovely change up - and the fact they have a cafe, even better. Congrats on the selling of bowls - I wish I were closer.
Who knows, John. It is worrying... everywhere is so dry to start with
Congratulations! You are taking off!
Selling two bowls at the new gallery is really good. Getting to know the customers and other artists/potters will be great too. Hot chocolate sounds ideal to end your day at the gallery.
Extra fun that you sold some of your own bowls! Have they thought about an open/closed sign for cold days?
