The day dawned fine in Waikanae...after a quarter moon at night.
I am not sure if the aurora australis came this far north.....
But at least the day was good for an easy crossing...hardly any waves in the harbour at Wellington...and not much on the way over, just a small sharp choppiness of the waves...not enough to affect the ferry!
Out of the harbour and we could see the other side, just.
We have found a retro campsite in Picton...just like they used to be! The beds are comfortable, everything is spotless..and the price reasonable. What's not to like?!
Plus there are a couple of added extras.....
And to follow....
I can't add the video.....the freight train took a minute and a half to steadily and slowly pass overhead!
And some of the cabins are repurposed carriages.
