Nearly time

We have to leave soon.. Thursday, all being well. I can't say that we are looking forward to leaving, or to the journey .

Today so far, since 7am we have been having some much needed steady rain. It has been rather dry here.

It is also ten degrees C colder than yesterday!!

Therefore today's job is a little more weeding and packing and weighing...and possibly more weeding!!

If tomorrow is dry..or even dryish...we have one more day out. It involves some reasonably steep and wiggly roads, so no trip if it is wet. Besides which we want to see the view as well!!

How much baggage do you take to and from NZ? I would think you'd need quite a bit, plus bike stuff, since you're there for so long. Anyway, happy travels!

Hope all the snow has gone before you land here.

I hope the weather is kind to you so you can get out and about, it will be quite a week for you with packing and getting ready for the journey. It is a shame that we can't simply be transported instantly from one side of the globe to the other like in science fiction, but it is maybe just as well that we can't! I enjoyed looking at the gates in you previous post. It is interesting how gates can be a way of self expression, and mail boxes too! I still remember miles of old terraced houses in the UK where front doors were sometimes a really different colour from the otherwise identical ones and you knew that someone wanted to stand out from the crowd and be themselves!

We hope so too. weave!!

Steve we can have 30kg hold and 7kg carry on wheelie bag.
That is with Emirates as a blue level traveller..if we travelled often like our half Dutch friend who visits her father in the Nederlands every year, we would be up to golf membership and 51 kg hold baggage allowance!
One problem is that the last leg to here was with Quantas...25kg hold allowance...no problem being 30 on the way in, but on the way out we might have to pay!!
Pirate has also bought a secondhand pair of wheels....so they are boxed up separately with our bike kit...
It might not be too bad as although we have bought some presents, both the cases and wheelies were light enough for our hold allowance on the way out.....
