Moving forward

Luckily this morning our neighbour came over for a cuppa and a chat...just as we had hoped for an early start...and after a while the landline phone went for Pirate...

It was confirmation of bowel cancer...but like the poster he saw on the back of the toilet door in the hospital, 9 out of 10 cases are successfully treated....and he is now positive in his attitude. So on Friday we meet the team who will be treating him, after their conference meeting on Wednesday.

What a way to celebrate a wedding anniversary!!...it will be five years married....and eleven years together.

After a later start than planned we headed off on the A 70, on a misty damp and cold day...this was the view at the highest point on the way to Edinburgh! But in the end we had far nicer weather than if we had stayed at home!!

We met our friend's son with son's son and stepfather....and loaded up the car with most of the equipment that needs to be sold....if possible! It could bring us in a fair bit of cash, but naturally we will have to work for it!!

Then across the new river crossing to Rosyth and along upriver to have a late lunch ...or early supper with another friend who hopefully will help us out a new roof on my workshop..he has helped us in the past with our buildings.

A drive through to Glasgow with beautiful skies and clouds with so much depth....quick shopping in Waitrose, catching things I wanted anyway at marked down prices...and home as it went dark.

A good day.   Not the diagnosis we wanted, but one we had expected...and now move on positively.

All positive thoughts and good wishes for treatments. That goes for the supporter as much as the supported. YAM xx

I think Pirate's good attitude will be a big help in his healing.

I'm sorry your news wasn't better but it is good that you have received the results quickly so that treatment can proceed. Good luck!

Sending all good wishes for a happy and speedy recovery.
I had surgery for cancer in the upper bowel right at the beginning of Covid. (Masking order put into effect while I was still in the hospital.
I am now a broken record about getting colonoscopies.

Very best wishes and love to you both.

The oncologist told me I had 6 months to 2 years maximum to live. A few weeks ago Dimi and I figured out that was 17 years ago. He may be right that oncologist, but he didn't tell us when to start counting.
:)
Smile, it's better than any medicine they can prescribe.

Fresca here. …FIVE years??? I remember your wedding post—I’d have guessed it was 2 or 3 years ago— I guess those Covid years squeeze down like an accordion.
So—happy anniversary! ❤️—you two are well positioned to take on the challenge of bowel cancer—no fun, but 9 out of 10 are great odds.
Many blessings looking ahead to the next five-year stretch!

Sorry to hear about the diagnosis, but as you said it's better to know, and the sooner the better. I'm glad Pirate is facing it with a positive outlook.

Oh dear, gz. I am so sorry to read this, but I must say your attitudes (both of you) as you resolutely march right on into this is inspiring.
