Being so near to firing the kiln is a scary thing.
Rain definitely scuppered that today. The bottles are outside in a gas cage (for security) and the doorway to the kiln is not ideal especially when wet. I'm not brave and have no wish to be foolhardy especially in cold wet weather.
So..late up..and eventually plait the garlic and get a batch of pears in the dehydrator.
(I'd picked up three 1kilo bags of small Williams pears for 99p each yesterday)
I would love to know how they make dried pears and peaches!!!
By 5pm the sky was clear which meant that I could go for a walk (to assist sleep) and check my foraging spots.
The brambles are still red. The apples are ripening, but look to have not had the "June drop" The wild pears haven't been pollinated
well, nothing on two trees but a little on the sweeter variety..first time in two years..and some on the other.
I did manage to get the ends on the hose that will link the two gas bottles...with instructions messaged by the Oily One!

The fruit growing on those trees looks very good. I am surprised the wildlife have not found them. The raccoons are very actively raiding fruit trees here.
Connecting the line for fuel is a great accomplishment. You are most capable.
Looks like a good picking of apples anyway. There's a community orchard where Tam lives, so we all benefit from that!
Rain . . . oh how I wish . . . esp. to put the fires out. Very worried about the one in the New Forest, especially as I have a horsey friend living nearby . . .
À few are pecked but they are all still far from ripe. We haven't had the more intense sun and heat that they are still having further south
Fire is worrying, but as I learned from Mountain Man and saw in the Gironde... Horses have sense. MM's lived on Common ground roaming free, despite fires none were lost. Those in the Gironde were set free from the stables, and all found safe afterwards.
Rain! What a concept! I'm glad someone's getting some. :)
My those trees are loaded! We have no apples this year--the late frosty did them in.
I love all your foraging. The kiln looked good in your last post but I couldn't comment.
