is no fun.
The Carpenter has made me a lamp, so that I have two to work by. Pots still don't quite look right, but better than looking flat. It gave me two more hours to handle cups and mugs, before I became too cold.
The weather isn't actually that cold, still just in double figure temperatures, but the dampness makes it feel so.
Another dozen handles still to do, and a platter and two bigger bowls to turn and decorate.
I still need to throw some salt pots, cheese bells and small boxes.
it is no fun metaphorically either. The Carpenter has just had a letter saying they've stopped his benefit from the end of October....but no reason given. He signs on, he is job-hunting, we can't work out why.....
The mortgage insurance is still dragging its heels too, asked for more details two weeks ago, still he hears nothing.....
These letters always arrive on Friday afternoon or Saturday, when you can do nothing but worry....
The Oily One helped Spannerman do a bit of welding on my car....it should last another two years or so. It is looking a bit tatty, but so would you after well over 300,000 miles!

oh dear, there's always a new 'challenge', something else to worry about, isn't there
I hate my letter box with a vengeance, although recently it has been blessed by occasional letters from France so I may not seal it up just yet!

Oh I do, my friend :-D
you've reminded me that I haven't checked my mailbox in a couple of weeks ... sigh. I hate what comes in the mail also. It is rarely good news and most often requires payment of one sort or another!
thank you for your help with the mystery lady painting!
xxx
nothing worse than disturbing mail on a Friday that you can't do anything about until Monday.
My student loan company always sent it's threatening letters, when I knew I was still in deferment, to arrive on Fridays. Many a weekend with my gut in a knot, then it took forever on Monday to get through to them.
It's a harsh time of year, no question.
I look far more worse than just tatty, in fact some mornings when I look in the mirror a complete stranger looks back at me :)
(o)
Oh yes, those Friday posts! We have strange damp weather here too. Not really cold but clay will not dry, I have quit trying to make it :)
I found a crockpot/slowcooker at a garage sale several summers ago. Once the weather turns cold I use to warm my throwing water, my joints are so happy! Very damp and cold here too and wish I had a small stove in the potting room but for now sitting on a sheep skin and wearing my long underwear :)
feeling a bit tatty myself these days!
good pots, hot fires and plentiful sales to you gz!
My car is 25 years old this year. I bought it new in 1987. Don't know what I'll do if it breaks down -- the parts to fix it would probably cost a small fortune -- if you could find them.
dampness and bills.....gggrrrr!!
