weekend saltglaze firing



All in!!

Draw ring being taken out to check firing progress

All twelve out by the end of adding salt....now we wait until Tuesday evening, hopefully, for the Grand Opening

I like eleven. Can't wait to see the results.

When I foggily remember ceramics..there were two brothers who salt glazed and the interior of their home was crusted with salt glaze at their death..maybe an urban myth? Look forward to seeing your salt glazed pots.

Very exciting. A bit like playing golf; before you hit the ball (before firing-up the kiln) you know exactly where you're going. But when you've actually hit the ball (fired the kiln) it's in the hands of the gods.

Possibly that could be a story about urban saltglaze potters in London in the 17 or 1800s
