I've been trying to find the translation for Te Aroha....and looking at the Maori online dictionary I found this....

In my tiny Lilliput Maori Place names book:
te - the
Aroha - love or affection. Kahu-mata-momoe sat on the summit of this mountain of love, and his heart was filled with affection for the land and people of Te Paeroa-o-Toi, the long range of Toi.
Perhaps, Susan , that is why we are both drawn to live here!
