We never managed to meet this possible cousin, just spoke on the telephone...his daughter in law knows us by sight...she works in the bakery cafe that is our regular stop.
There were well over 400 people at the graveside...mostly men. A real village turnout, with a short but good speech by his best friend who also read what his brother had written.
We had a gardening job booked in afterwards, but apart from being too wet, we needed time off.
Lunch was in Moniaive..
house for sale.....
and ice cream in Newton Stewart
A real live bank branch!! So many are closing now,and this small town has three different ones!!
Then home...

It's really now that women go to the graveside; before the women stayed at home and got the food ready and no one thought it odd. It was only when my mother died that her sisters all turned up, too.
