caterpillar

Back in the hills today..getting the rest of the grass there to look like a lawn!

We saw this....
yet to find out what variety..but it makes a change from white butterflies!

Ah the larval stage of the order Lepidoptera. (Actually, I didn't know that but Wikipedia did.) I remember from the days of my youth in North Dakota the fuzzy caterpillars we used to let crawl around on us. Which reminds me of this bit of doggerel: Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear. Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair. So Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't fuzzy, was he?

Ah, I sometimes wish I knew such things but I suspect that I am already boring enough! But I love caterpillars and when Benoit tells me I should squash them to protect my cabbages and broccoli I just smile and think, Not on your nelly, mon ami! :)
