Gardening

 A thankyou to our hosts.

Pirate has been helping to shift freshly cut firewood.

I have been weeding the vege garden and passing the weeds to the chooks..who have been demolishing them!

The potter we saw yesterday called by to see our hosts and us, and gave Pirate a gift.

The gift I received yesterday will be passed forward to another potter, with his blessing. I hope they meet in the not too distant future.

The pictures on the TV news here are stunning...an awful situation for many.

Now to venture a little to catch up with more friends, hopefully.

It's almost impossible to get news of the Cyclone here in NC. Our news broadcasts are controlled by one company. But BBC does include sad photos from the North Island. I'm glad you were spared.

Earthquake, cyclones, wars and here two or three teenage deaths by stabbing by other teenagers - all still at school- there is not a lot of good news around at present. Weaver

We have heard nothing of your troubles. Seriously, our news outlets are taken over more and more by trivia.

I'm sitting here listening to the cricket from Mount Maunganui; it seems so unreal that the cyclone can have caused so much devastation on the other side of the island.

Not even the other side, John...but an hour and a half's drive away, yes.
