Cold...updated

Thankfully we are not towards the east of Scotland, but snow is nearing us this afternoon.

We are sitting in the living room, the electric fire on one bar and fan, not full on..and at 2.30 we are still waiting for the promised plumber who is to restore the boiler to life....well to heating the radiators and hot water, as it is sitting there "working". I am not looking forward to the bill. Luckily we have been away quite a bit, so there is some slack in the equation.

The plumber, a mate of the landlord is obviously moonlighting between jobs for his usual employer.

Meanwhile the friend who is a plumber..and we are supposedly "on the list" to have the radiators and boiler serviced...a proper deal, not mates rates... hasn't replied.

My carbon fibre track bike has today gone to Glasgow Velodrome with a friend, with the hope that it will fit her and she will buy it...fingers crossed....

And it is cold...only just above freezing at the most today.

Primulas and primroses...come on folks, it is NOT spring!
Fluffed up local moggy

Sitting tight... keeping warm....working on decluttering a bit.

Boiler reset...Pirate had been doing the right thing...but it was sulking.

Boiler man looked... switched off correctly...and back on...and it behaved!!

He will report back to the landlord..and hopefully the boiler will get its annual(should be annual, but....) overhaul.

Here's hoping there's heat soon for you!

Oh no! This is not the time to be without heat! I hope your system gets restored quickly.

It looks really cold there. Hope someone comes soon and provides heat for you both.

oh no I hope it gets fixed, there's nothing worse than sitting in a room that's not quite warm.

...here, the heat has been running nonstop for several weeks. Take care and stay warm and well,Gwynneth.

I am confused. You talk about a landlord, yet you pay for repairs to your boiler? Here, that would very definitely be your landlord's responsibility.

I hate winter!

I hope the boiler gets a service and you stay warm. Ref allotments, 2 and half year wait list with local council for mine, if you have any locally, get your name down! Betty

Well, I'm west of Scotland and I have snow and cold nights but, my gas furnaces keeps me warm.

Debby with work on the house the quickest and easiest way is to get someone to do the work then get a refund of the cost from the landlord...we have a very low rent and he doesn't want to be bothered! Fair enough he does have his own business to run as well

Wonderful that it was a simple fix. I was envisioning new boilers and all that jazz.
Reminds me of the time all the emergency light came on in my Subaru. Service replaced the gas cap, (sensors gone haywire),reset computer, problem solved. I did know gas caps were a part of comp system. We learn something new every day!🤭

Simple, Smartcat, but the old boiler is struggling. Hopefully landlord will agree to a boiler service

Thank you for visiting the bike shed again after my hiatus. I was back in Usk the other week and thought of you when I passed the farmer's market and later the velodrome in Newport

I am glad you are reimbursed.
