Day 3 on Lewis

A walk on Traigh Mhòr (Big Beach ) this morning as it was still and dry..it feels most odd not to hear the sea and / or the wind!

After a quick lunch, we went to the sports centre in Stornoway to play bowls with the local bowls club.

I had only played bowls once before, this time last year in the bowls clubhouse... completely different to full size indoor mats!! I had the lend of another friend's bowls..six per mat (two teams)on the three mats..my team won!! I also found that I bowl better with my left hand.

One of my friends had previously put a tracker on herself at one of those afternoon games, and found that she had walked a mile and a half!

Then a short walk before supper in the Bridge Centre café (to be recommended)

Lews Castle, built in the 1800s in six years

The Hebridean Isles..in her last few days of work, before being scrapped, no longer a passenger ferry but carrying freight

A good early supper out, then back for a rest.

My ankle is slowly reducing, but my knees and hips are still not right..but with less swelling any damage should be easier to diagnose and treat.

I am not in pain....but it is definitely not right. It isn't shouting at me...but it is certainly having a good grumble!!

Walking on the beach when no one else is around is so relaxing for the body and mind, looks like lovely golden sand.

So many beautiful pictures. I hope your grumbling body starts to setting down for you very soon. A nice hot bath to relax after all that Walking would be lovely I think

Beautiful empty beaches make perfect places for a walk.
Staying active as you do should help keep muscles and joints flexible. Hopefully the grumbling will be short-lived.

Love the pictures - perhaps you need a bit of a realignment. Physio? A friend of mine was only in her 30s when she got a stone bruise while hiking. The stone bruise caused her knee on the other side to go awry. This in turn affected her hips and eventually spine - she was a basket case for months! I ended up with a strained left shoulder when I cracked my right elbow but that was down to me being (more) overweight (than I am even now).

That IS a big beach. Love seeing these pictures of a place that to me is very exotic. I've always wanted to go to Stornoway. Maybe one of these days!

Really enjoyed the photos. Very moody!
Now I am wondering what kind of bowling game you played! Not familiar to me.
