Saturday, homeday

Gardening was the order this morning.

I pulled the grass from a straggly lavender hedge..last year's visiting gardener didn't prune it as requested....it could provide an amount of cuttings to start again...

Everyone else was at the front...a palm tree was being tidied!! ..and it is about 10 metres tall....

I drew the tree and one of its flower stalks.

This afternoon I had the lend of a rotary cutter and a cutting mat. The new project is now safely in five small bags ready to pin and sew.....

I have often craved a rotary cutter and a cutting mat. The YouTube videos make it all look so much easier, especially with magnets instead of pins!

That sounds satisfying!

Gardening is also on my agenda. Now days it’s slow going.
Don’t you just love the rotary cutter. My mat is always on my work table and the cutter is in the drawer. Safe from little hands. Always close the safety whenever your not using it. One lady didn’t and sliced her hand when she went to pick it up. Very nasty

You can root lavender cuttings? I really doubt mine survived, but I would like to try rooting some if it by some miracle is still alive.

It is easy..take a side shoot, pull off with a "heel", strip off the bottom leaves, pinch out the soft tip. Poke into gritty compost..or even sharp sand...around the perimeter of a plant pot. Water once, put the whole lot on a plastic bag if you like...they will grow!

Gardening is the order here tomorrow! No palm trees, though. :)

I never knew that either. Thanks for the tip!
