Introduction...Duncan Shearer from Paeroa, leading the slow throwing sessions every day
First morning bowls..these are my four..I kept one..
A glaze supplier was showing his wares, plus glazing techniques.
Then there was printing on clay with clay , led by Brendan Adams who lives and works near Warksworth..
Karen Kennedy making whistles...
Bill Powell from north of Brisbane in Australia..
On the Saturday I joined in with the printing group..
You create your design on paper with slip ..liquid clay...in reverse as you would a print...and can do several layers with different pieces of paper. Guess who got the layers the wrong way round first time!
Then you press the paper down on the damp clay and smooth it down, transferring the design...just like lino printing..
We did our designs on a flat slab, then transferred it to a template with a hole in the middle...then dropped it, making the clay form the bowl with the design....
And this is mine
And so on to Saturday.....

That looks genuinely immersion- unlike some festivals where the ticketed entries are usually just onlookers.
Fascinating printing process! And the mermaid whistle is extra cute!
