Getting things started..
The workshop roof is looking rather sad..bits of covering got blown off in Storm Eowyn..I have contacted a carpenter friend about possibly getting the roof done properly (he made the extension roof)
Then I have phoned and emailed ( with photos) the Charnwood stove company regarding obtaining the necessary parts...
Then off to town....lunch out in the bookshop cafe and sorting my frozen credit card..
And calling by my travel agent..it is a lovely friendly office, and my agent had done such a good job ..it is worth giving feedback on how it went. Then they can keep on giving a good service.
Our collection of cycling books....our friend in France has requested three. I'd hoped that my family might like some...but ...any one that would be ready they already have....or they have no time to read!?
The ones I'm interested in, I've read...so why should they sit on my shelves?
Jetlag is subsiding gradually. I'm feeling human and brain is functioning!!
After going to town I went over for a natter with one neighbour...86, feisty ex barmaid who has quite severe scoliosis... and bakes and gardens....
Our group of neighbours is reducing...next door's mobility is now curtailed...next door down from there has moved to a pensioners bungalow and the house is empty.
Over the road has been taken to a nursing home...but there are doubts over whether he will reach his 80th this Saturday.
I wonder who will join us?

We've found that too - that there seems to be 'waves' of change. One neighbour leaves (for what ever reason) that seems to trigger others, then we suddenly have a number of new folk living along the street.
Previous triggers have been affairs, deaths, immigration, marriage and outgrowing a home by a growing family. I suspect there is about to be the latest wave in the next year or two.
It’s so very sad when you start to lose people. It feels like once one goes the rest just tumble like dominos.
I hope you get some nice neighbours who are interested in the things you are. Then you can bounce of eachother and get to be friends
...lot of things to do.
“this isn’t New Zealand anymore”
You certainly are getting back in the swing of things! Sad about your neighbors. We have seen so many pass on here, the whole generation ahead of us is now gone, except for one lady. The houses are filled, though, mostly with young people. Some are descendants of the former occupants, others we haven't met. Almost everyone has stopped farming, it seems, although there are a half dozen still holding on.
So sad to see the faces of the neighborhood changing.
Sounds like the older generation is moving on.
Sad that you've lost some good neighbors.
You are keeping busy. Life moves on around you.
