A long journey...25 hours airtime total...my back is suffering and my sinuses are complaining despite using a mask ( which usually helps) plus a total of 12 hours waiting in airports...
Taking Nojetlag pills (homeopathic) definitely helps...but I still felt awful last night!!
Better today, after getting all the washing out, having some fresh air and sun in the garden...and seeing some spring flowers.
Still, there are a few good memories from the journey.
One that stands out was the call to prayer in Dubai airport just after we arrived there, just as the sun was rising.
Beautiful. Both sight and sound.

Welcome home! I also loved the call to prayer when I lived in Morocco.
In one hotel in Jordan, we were right next door to the Mosque, so needless to say the Call to Prayer woke us every morning!! 25 hours airtime - not sure if I can stand that. 5 hours was bad enough!
Welcome home! It sounds like your journey was a long and exhausting one, but I'm glad to hear that you’re starting to feel better after some fresh air and sunshine in the garden. Traveling for such long hours, especially with all the waiting in airports, can really take a toll on the body, but it's wonderful that the homeopathic pills and a bit of rest are helping.
The memory you shared about the call to prayer in Dubai airport is so beautiful and peaceful. It's such a poignant moment to experience, especially with the sun rising in the background. It must have been quite moving to hear that in such a quiet, reflective moment after such a long trip.
I hope the rest of your recovery is smooth and that you're able to relax and enjoy being back home. I hope you are having a great weekend. You are invited to read my new post: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2025/03/the-breathtaking-adventures-we-had-in-glencoe.html Thank you.
I hope you are not too jet lagged.
Those Spring blooms are a lovely welcome home.

Welcome home, GZ! I have so enjoyed reading your Kiwi adventures - sorry I'm such a poor commenter... but I want you know I'm keeping track! Yes, spring is properly happening now - those croci are lovely. Hope the next day is even better! YAM xx
Welcome home...and the sun was shining and flowers were blooming, just for you!
What a punishing journey home! I know I would need a few days to recover from that! Be gentle with yourself for the next while.
I do love the call to pray. It stirs emotions at a very deep level.
Oh yes. Flying anywhere from here is always at least 24 hours.
We are a long way from everyone else
...25 hours would kill me!
I'm glad that you're safely home, but 25 hours of flying and 12 hours sitting in airports....yeesh. That's a long day, isn't it? I've never heard of nojetlag, but I'll certainly look into it, even though, sadly, I'm pretty sure that I'll not be traveling far again.
It's always good o be back home.
Welcome home! You've had a wonderful time in NZ and made lots of great memories with friends old and new.
25 hours of travel sounds hard.
The call to prayer in Dubai is not something I've experienced. I'll google around to see if there is a recording online.
Lovely signs of spring. I hope you have time to rest and recover.
Primroses! ❤️❤️❤️
Flying is hard on the body.
I know you’ll take good care of yourself
How nice to come home to flowers. I bet you are exhausted though.
The call to prayer, that sounds enchanting.
Welcome home GZ.
Thanks Dave
It takes a while...longer than going forward to NZ.
You don't have to be atall religious to appreciate and respect the call to prayer.
Welcome home! What a beautiful welcome with those lovely spring flowers! Ease into things. I've so enjoyed following your trip.
