Whanganui wanderings

Back in Whanganui...busy getting the washing done..and dried....not an easy job as it has been humid even when it wasn't raining!

It's good to be back here, fitting in with all our friends.

We had a short walk up Victoria Avenue and around today.

The old post office now...a good café.....and then.....

I started using those pavement patterns for patchwork, on our last visit three years ago....I must finish them when I get back to Scotland!!

Victoria Avenue street furniture..imported from Scotland, made in Kilmarnock in the mid 1800s...

This Bedford bus is from about 1949 to 1954..

And camper vans old and new!!...the Toyota about twenty years younger....what a difference!!

We have booked an overnight two thirds of the way down to the ferry...and so far our booking is ok...at present only one ship is working and there should be six between the two companies.....but there is hope of more coming back into service.

It feels most odd that we only have just over two more weeks here. It feels wrong to leave....but we don't have a choice.

Watch this space as they say!

This weekend Hawkes Bay, Coromandel and Auckland are due to get more Weather.....as if they hadn't suffered enough already.

Loved those brick patterns, and I'm sure they'll translate into a patch work design very well. Probably just a typo but the big old bus might have been from mid 20th century, rather than 1800's...they were still horse drawn at that time. I'm so happy you all got to go to New Zealand this year, though you've run into some weather which is a difficulty. And as you mentioned, others have had worse to deal with. Enjoy what time you have left there!

I remember the ancient buses (usually Bedfords) and the immaculate British makes of cars, usually from the 1960s on our NZ visits. Now those british makes are no longer available and I guess NZ is following Australia with imported Japanese makes - which makes sense.

Sounds like you have enjoyed your stay - who wouldn't it that glorious country. My wife and I both agreed that if we had been younger we woulod have emigrated there.

Exactly Avus...we would love to stay here.
In 1967 Pirate and first wife had a chance to come here, job sorted and all ..but ... luckily for me...she wasn't sure!!
So they didn't come here...mind you, he still has the job letter and the company is still here...but it's a bit too late now!!
