We had yet more steady rain all morning..as if we hadn't had enough already. The grassy bits of the garden are like sodden sponges. Water is sitting like a moat at the back and either side of the ramp to the house in the front.
The good news that we appear to be one more step closer to new loft insulation and boiler on the government grant scheme..the paperwork goes in tomorrow and the decision should be back to the agents in seven working days...so a week Tuesday....
Pirate had his siesta late morning...and I got stuck into sorting my study...packing boxes sorted and two bags of paper to recycle...
We were both glad to see that the rain had lifted and we had a gentle walk down to the village pharmacy to collect Pirate's latest scrip....pressure socks!
Another little bit of preparation for his op next Tuesday.
Pirate received a letter from one of the unpleasant people....Debby, your discovery of the word Errogant...is perfect.
It hurts, but he has decided to take the advice of a friend on the downsizer forum....leave them on the riverbank as you go with the flow...
Mind you he does prefer his saying...act like a dog....scratch some grass over it and walk away!!!
He will send a reply....but only when he gets strong enough a few weeks after his op.

The Epps family tree I drew for Pirate a couple of years ago..his mother's side...now this is incentive to do more!!

I don't have the patience to draw up a family tree. I have started twice but quickly gave up both times.

Jaycee once you can get going..and if you are fortunate able to put details on the bare bones of the job, it becomes fascinating...putting parallels from general history to the family's history.
That relating national social history to the story of your family is one reason to do it, yes. Especially if members emigrated. There's usually a reason at home why they left, not usually just to have an adventure!

I have just been whizzing through some of your recent posts, you are a busy woman. I hope the mattress topper is doing a decent job of improving your quality of sleep and comfort, and how did the blood orange marmalade turn out? Blood orange - is it much darker and a little sharper than ordinary Seville marmalade? I was lucky, a distant relative had done a huge amount of work on our family tree, so I was able to update it and then explore the missing parts of my father's tree. It does become quite addictive and I discovered some fabulous names along the way. Best wishes to you both.
It's good your govt has a scheme going for people, sounds similar to what we went through, I think from memory all up our underfloor insulation was about $5000 nzd but we only had to pay $250 which I thought was pretty good.
Elaine the Blood Oranges make a more fragrant and slightly darker coloured marmalade. I used three or four Seville oranges to make up the weight and improve the setting, as the blood oranges are a sweet orange with lower pectin.
