The gorse is flowering well everywhere..despite the cold cold wind...
I had hoped to carry on with bus travel...no chance today.
First to collect Pirate's gold medal from NZ that he won a year ago..he wants to show it to the staff in the hospital who are caring for him.
I had thought,as that was with a friend in Kilmarnock, that I could have a wander around the town. Hail and heavy rain stopped that plan!
So start the hunt for vertical blinds...the ones at the front of or living room need replacing..I'm gradually replacing the hooks that hold the vertical pieces... and the pieces themselves...with parts from the same on two other windows...they must be nearly thirty years old. Researching them I found that their usual life, being plastic and in daylight, is on average sixteen years..so these have done well. Unfortunately the track is just a bit too deep for the gap above the window, so when the windows were opened the frame scraped along the track...
I have ideas to mount them differently....but after hunting around six shops today I have only found one that sells them...not even IKEA !! It isn't just clothes that follow fashion...
That was this morning finished.....
And after lunchtime off to see Pirate for an hour or more, getting him out of bed!!..he is supposed to sit out on his chair for two hours morning and afternoon.
It was good just chatting to him and the staff..they love him!! We are hoping that he hasn't caught the cough and sniffles of the man opposite....mind you, colds take three days to develop...so if he has got something its not from that one.. possibly this calls for multivitamins to back up his immune system?
Back home, and a jar of the latest marmalade experiment goes to a neighbour..good to have a natter too..
And ask the district nurse when they will be bringing the hospital bed...it looks like Pirate may be back before it arrives! But we can manage, we have a folding bed and an airbed on top of it..although he will be glad when the real one arrives .
And to finish.. the laptop is playing up again...back to computer clinic as soon as.

You are seeing signs of spring im seeing the opposite. Although the weather isn’t really showing it.

I hope you find something that you like for your windows. Sometimes is good we can’t find the same thing we had. Makes us branch out and find something new. Which might even look better

Presumably Pirate is doing really well if he is likely to be home before the arrival of the hospital bed or perhaps there are delays with deliveries of such things.. All the best for his speedy recovery.

Hi GZ, I hope Pirate doesn't pick up any colds/bugs, thats the trouble with hospitals, they make you better but expose you to a lot bugs our immune systems can do without fighting. I am so glad to read that Pirate is heading for home and plans are in place for a comfy bed. It's also good to read that you have kept yourself busy although I hope you won't neglect the need for a little self indulgence as you are the main support and it takes a lot out of you. Blinds and curtains are something I absolutely hate having to think about. I have found it hard to get nice pencil pleat curtains that have blackout linings these days, the new trendy style with holes in the top that run through a pole use half as much fabric and let light in! We have our curtain poles set right up to the ceiling (like they do in Spain) so that style won't work for us. fittings for blinds are always changing, I have yet to find anything in Ikea that was easy enough for us to fit ourselves and so we mostly have net curtains which I don't like much!

Good news that Pirate may soon be home again. I expect he will be looking forward to that.
I hope the hospital bed arrives in time for you to set it up properly. Good support is necessary for proper rest.
How frustrating that the bed cannot be in place before Pirate comes home. You do manage, and you always manage admirably, but a bed seems like such a simple thing to get sorted!
Have you ever seen zebra blinds? That's what we have on the french doors in our bedroom, and they do work a treat.
Window treatments are always such a pain! Our landlord's curtains all looked terrible, so we just took them all down, at least in the back of the house. (One reason we didn't want to remove the screening shrubbery at the rear of the garden!)
It's great Pirate wants to show off his medal. I hope the bed arrives. I'm sure you'd do fine with a makeshift setup but it would be better to have the real thing in place.
Good luck getting your blinds to work/fit and continue along for a good while longer! Do hope no new sniffles have to be contended with while you Pirate is in hospital. Yes, lots of vitamin C, and people have been telling me Zinc is good too. Hope the bed arrives soon.
There is the worry that if set up something makeshift, we won't get the hospital bed for him. A proper bed would be far better for his recovery
