kiln unpacking

Just to keep you going....I've had a day at the Court Cupboard Gallery, then a kiln opening and a marvelous supper for the seven of us that stayed on to eat.

A veritable feast...baked potatoes, plus an array of what was "reduced" in the supermarket and what was left in the fridge...a wonderful mix of various salads and things!! There was not much left at the end of a full kitchen tableful!

and now? I'm tired!!

I need to start another making session and all of us have been mentally held back, waiting for the results of this firing.
Our mentor, Rosemary Cochrane, said that myself and the other kiln firer in our group tend to fire "by the seat of our pants"...and don't stick rigidly to a schedule...and this is what she wanted us to do. By so doing, we've had the best firing yet in this kiln....and still we learn with it and know what we'll do differently next time!

Must be very exciting unpacking a kiln, as I imagine there is always an element of unpredictability - that's probably bad if you are a professional but it would delight me!

Love the gold/green columns in the upper left in the photo.

What beautiful ceramics and how nice to have a group to do it with.

congratulations on a good firing! looks like some great looking pots in that kiln. i love the camaraderie and fellowship of a group firing since making pots is most often a solo effort.

Well done; looks like a success.

I'm fascinated by the large object bottom left of kiln, and photo. It looks like a fairy on a fence!

It's fascinating to see work in action, although 'firing by the seat of the pants' sounds hazardous!
Those suppers are the very best, too.

Zhoen those are some of Rosemary Cochrane's bottles. She wasn't there to help with the firing so we HAD to have some of her work in the kiln!!

Cro, we are very pleased with the firing...and the "fairy" is a porcelain sculpture with a cockerel on the top. It is to be hung on a wall- you are seeing it side on

I'm so impatient, I would find it hard to wait. it must be very exciting to see how everything has fared.

The dark blue and that bronze-looking glaze are very interesting colors. I love those conical bowl shapes.
