Op +9. Tradies day

Up at 6... Windowsills cleared and finished and breakfast done by 8....

8.45 they started to arrive...three for the roof insulation...one went to another job nearby..they were waiting for materials, so went to the local shop to.buy breakfast!

While they were off, the electrician arrived..his job was installing extractors for the kitchen and bathroom..a good worker from Turkey, with a Ukrainian wife...so they had ended up as refugees in Britain as English is one of the languages they speak(4)..and speak well. ( No point staying a country where you don't speak the language if you already have another fluently)

He had found the warmest welcome to.his hardworking self and family....has been in Scotland.  So glad to see him here being part of the community. He has found that "English" is quite different in different parts of England..and then you have Scots...

His work was tidy, well done and he was careful to move even more than I had away from the working area to avoid them getting dusty..and cleaned at the end.

The rest of the team were Scottish...and team was the right word too. The lead with ADHD like my family... and focussed, energetic and happy!

Then came the plumber, last but not least..his was the longest job replacing the boiler..that took until 5pm, including cleaning and tidying after himself.

I collected the car mid afternoon, but couldn't go to see Pirate until he had had his supper..so I had mine before I went..and got the house tidy before going...and arrived there by 7.

He was feeling tired, so I didn't stay too long..he is worrying about being able to cope at home, naturally

So a full day of a busy house full of tradies!

Good to see them working hard and working together.

Having cleared things away, I hope I can reduce what we have as the putting back begins. One step was raising the television...so that you are not peering over anything to watch it...

Work in progress...and hopefully this will mean that I can keep the radiators clearer of furniture.

Like grandma said, if you can't move, move the furniture!!

Wow, a busy day. I presume Pirate is still expected home today (Friday). Hope the hospital bed arrives for him. Also hope you can get some rest.

Wunderkind! That's what you are. Pirate may have to start taking orders from you when he comes home. (If he doesn't already! 😄)

Wow – so much done while Pirate’s away – – and he is coming home to an improved house —that’s fantastic😊 Well done, you—and a good team of workers❤️

What a lot accomplished today! And the TV being higher does help. Hope Pirate coming home tomorrow will be as easily done for you all!

You've had a challenge with house projects and Pirate.

What a productive day! I am so curious though. Your ceiling has a design. Is it tin? Plaster?

It is very hard for me to believe it has been 8 days already. Pirate is probably anxious to leave and anxious about leaving in equal measure.

Good month! How good that your work is progressing! I hope spring will bring an end to them too. Thanks for the post!

Debby I think the technical name may be Anaglypta? It is just paper

Catalyst, no orders.. teamwork...but there may be an amount of persuasion! The district nurse CAN tell him though 😎😄 and he listens

How nice to have everything brought up to date. It makes such a difference when the workers are enthusiastic and capable.

Thank goodness it all went well and cleared away ready for Pirate's homecoming. You must be feeling quite drained by now?

Great getting all that done the same day! We had everything done here in this bungalow but went through the agony of finding tradesmen, it was hell and took place over 2 years, we are now tidy but getting back to being clear wasn't easy. We have to have thinking time before we get going, so well done you! It will be great when Pirate comes home. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus.

Hares and Rabbits!
WOW! That sounds like well coordinated chaos! And all in one day yet!
Does this mean Pirate will be back in his own place soon? I understand his anxiety, but often just being home in a known environment leads to quick overall improvements.
Your grandmother was a wise woman. I am off to move some furniture.
suzi....if google is still making be anon.

Well, it sounds like a relatively pleasant day of tradespeople, so thank goodness for that! Here's hoping you'll feel more organized at the end of all this.

Wow. They all arrived and worked well together. That is a great day I’d say
Tradies here are notoriously late and faff about for ages before getting stuck in

You have completed many jobs in record time and the workmen sound fantastic. Pirate comes home to an updated home. You've managed beautifully and Pirate is a lucky man to have you.
